[dropcap size=dropcap]M[/dropcap]ass Effect 3 has been released for more than a year now. However, since its release date, the fans are already talking about the future of the series and of course, what Mass Effect 4 will bring to the table.

According to an official representative of BioWare who chose to remain anonymous, Mass Effect 4 will probably be released in the last trimester of 2014 or maybe even in the first half of 2015. Until then, we know for sure that the game has entered the development stage several months ago.

The same BioWare representative, stated in an interview for Gamer Syndrome that fans of the series may expect in Mass Effect 4 the same style of action and a similar story development as in the previous title.

A while ago, BioWare Montreal has revealed that Mass Effect 4 will use the Frostbite engine. Yanick Roy, the studio director, said that the development of the game will be headed to the studio that handled the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer. The development team will receive however support from Edmonton. Casey Hudson is “very much involved in the new Mass Effect game. BioWare Montreal is an important studio that made an amazing job with the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer. Fans need to know that the Mass Effect series is in good hands” he stated.

Furthermore, in a more recent interview with Complex, Mac Walters from BioWare confirmed a piece of news that until then was just a rumor spread among the fans of the series: Mass Effect 4 will come with a brand new story that will not relate to the events that took place in the previous title. The character of Shepard will also be removed, and another main hero will take his place. This should not come as a surprise to al the fans that completed the first three chapters of the series: The ending put a cap on Shepard’s battle from Mass Effect 3. “Well, I can’t get into details, but the idea is that we have agreed to tell a story that doesn’t relate necessarily to any of the Shepard events at all, whatsoever,” Walters added. In conclusion, Mass Effect 4 will come with lots of surprises and this is the main reason we will wait with impatience more news coming from the publishers or the team of developers end.

Until then, we hope to get your opinion on how the future game will be like.
