Bye, Bye Nintendo Wii, Welcome Super Mario on Nintendo Wii U deluxe

Since its release in 2006, Nintendo Wii seemed to have fulfilled its mission of mainstreaming the motion controlled gaming. Seven years later however, Nintendo announced their intention to close the production for the popular console. Simple but engaging and quite enjoyable games such as Wii Sports and the New Super Mario Bros have already helped the company to sell more than 100 million Nintendo Wii units worldwide and the numbers would have increased if Nintendo would have brought something new.

Unfortunately however, their attempt to rekindle the magic of the Nintendo Wii consoles with their new Wii U was a total fiasco. The sales went down and many potential customers have already chosen other devices to support their need to play video games. But Nintendo officials do not see the battle to be completely lost. In a final attempt to return to past glories, Nintendo Wii U consoles will replace the original bundle, Nintendo Land with a more popular title, capable to attract more fans: The $300 kit will include the 32GB black Wii U with both the New Super Mario Bros. U and the New Super Luigi U games. A smart move, because many gamers associate in their minds the names Nintendo and Super Mario.  According to Nintendo’s official PR release, the new set will reach stores no later than November 1st.

“This new Wii U configuration gives people instant access to not one, but two of the well-received Wii U games. It’s another example of the tremendous value and variety that Nintendo is offering consumers this holiday season.” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing.

We are prepared to say goodbye to the classic Nintendo Wii and we will try to give a chance to the newer but not so popular Nintendo Wii U console. What do you think? Would you buy it for the sake of the new Mario games?
