Reggie Fils-Aime is the new target of the dreaded Ice Bucket Challenge.
In the beginning, there was planking. Then, planking turned to the spice cabinet and became the cinnamon challenge. And now, in present day, we as humans have evolved as well, and realized that if we’re going to do stupid things and put them online no matter what, we may as well do it for charity. Thus was born the Ice Bucket Challenge- a trend that has worked its way around the interwebs and into the higher-ups of the gaming industry.
This challenge is exactly as its name would imply. Participants must be doused in ice water or make a donation to the ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis/Lou Gehrig’s disease) Foundation in the U.S. After each person dumps their head or donates, they can then proceed to nominate others to undergo the Ice Bucket Challenge. It’s like paying it forward, but with a lot more hypothermia.
Celebrities like Iggy Azalea and James Franco have already underwent this ordeal, as have some of gamings biggest icons- most notably Notch, who posted a video of administering the Ice Bucket Challenge to himself. He then went on to nominate Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft’s XBOX division.
Phil Spencer accepted the Ice Bucket Challenge with open arms.
Spencer went on to nominate not one, not two, but THREE competing higher-ups in the industry.
Ladies and Gentlemen, let’s meet our competitors…
Yes, it’s the lovable top-dog over at Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime. Here in the middle of Summer, he’ll have to donate to the ALS Foundation or suffer his very own Tropical Freeze!
Mr. Yoshida of Sony’s PlayStation Division been ice cold to his competitors, and they don’t just want him doused PlayStation Later, they want it PlayStation NOW!
Valve’s very own fluffy head honcho’s been called out to get doused as well. Some fans claim he could get out of the predicament by announcing Half Life 3, but let’s face it folks- Gabe’s going to freeze over long before hell will!
Who will accept? Who will be nominated? Who will wimp out and actually donate to the charity? Keep your eyes glued to the screen ladies and gents, because the show’s only getting started!
