Critics on Facebook Messenger App

by GH Staff

Facebook messenger is an interesting and a stand-alone app that gives its users to chat with Facebook friends and send text messages and SMS to any contact that exists on your phone. This app also gives you an allowance to make free calls to other uses who use Facebook Messenger.

In order to allow for group messages, Facebook messenger makes a combination of friends and mobile contacts alongside location based functionality. Its functions are very similar to that of other communication apps. Multiple users are combined together by the group chat and gives an allowance for messages to be collected in one window.

Facebook messenger can also be used to talk with phone messages under condition that you have SMS enabled. The application permits you to send a messages to not only your friends on Facebook but also to any contact in your phone. SMS messages will show in green while on the other hand the Facebook contacts will use the blue color to show up. You can do message forwarding to people who are not in the conversation as well as create some shortcuts in the home screen. You can also mute a conversation direct from the notification panel or like messages.

Once you are through with your communication, you will just swipe the icon down and have your notification removed from your screen. You can turn your notification off in settings in the case there is someone in your contacts you don’t want to hear from or you need to have a break from Facebook chat. This is done for a set certain amount of time which is always set more so for one hour until 8am in the morning.

Besides all these benefits of using this app, you can also say that this app is disliked by many people. This is because of all of Facebook Messenger’s frustrating interface and privacy violations. The latest attempts by Facebook at revitalizing its messenger app which is latest is an advertisement.

The past advertisement techniques used by Facebook have not been a good run. The real good and intimate moments that are daily happenings in the social media always seem to be forgotten. The latest advert for this app is the one that was seen on Wednesday on ADweek’s Ad of the Day. It shows are couple who are using Facebook Messengers multimedia option to send romantic messages to each other.  This advertisement made Facebook to really do a pretty job since it is plain cute and appealing. This app send voice messages, a video and goes a step further to using sticker features. The advertisement is entirely with a very catchy ukulele adaptations to Elvis’ “Can’t Help in Love with You” and this makes the advertisement to be more enticing. Even though the advertisement is timed for the Valentine day which has already passed, you will think of your lover once you watch the 30 second video. This will make you to be eager to send something sweet to your girlfriend or boyfriend via Facebook Messenger though she or he may be one of the many people who hate this app.
