Recently Microsoft updated its messaging and file sharing app i.e. Skype for ios and released the updated version on October 30th 2014. This release is aimed to give optimum performance and suitable display to all the ios devices irrespective of their screen size. The new updated version 5.7 is available in iStore and one can directly install this app or may update it from the previous version of the app. After Skype got acquired by Microsoft, Microsoft is trying to capture the market which is now occupied by the apps like Whatsapp, which is very much similar in functionality of Skype.

After the Skype 5.6 update got released, Microsoft which is known for its highly adaptable and quick to respond nature asked suggestions from its users about the design, usage, flexibility, security issues etc and uses gave so many suggestions. Microsoft took a detailed look into those suggestions and came up with 5.7 update which solved most of the problems addressed by users.

Managing Images: It is a common practice to send images during conversations and Skype introduced some new options keeping this in mind. One can insert images from camera roll or SD card and the user who received those images can either view it or delete it as per his preference. Hold the image for two seconds and the options like Save, Delete, Share etc. will come up and this is the best way to manage images so far.

Delay issues: Skype is known for its high boot time, delay in opening app, blank screen etc. and Microsoft took extreme care in each and every detail and now you can access Skype from the notification panel without any delay and booting time of this app is reduced considerably. Even changes had been made so that the chat messages will load faster than ever.

Search option: If your contacts tab is filled with so many people and it is hard to find the one you are looking for, now you can easily search for that contact in the search bar. New filters like recent, Last 7 days, frequently contacted etc. are really helpful in accessing contacts efficiently and quickly.

Avatars: This is designed in such a way that even if the other user is using a smart phone other than that of Apple Inc.’s and if he changes his avatar, it automatically gets updated in the latest showings of the user. This move is aimed to get integration across different mobile OS platforms simple.

Security: As per the Microsoft’s report the security features got updated and several glitches, bug issues had taken care of. Microsoft is known for its advanced security features from long back and the company never took chances as far as security of the users is concerned. Even the latest Skype update for iOS meets the security requirements of now a days and it is safe and secure from most external threats and malicious attacks.

Hope the new update is liked by its users and it may achieve number one position in the messaging and file sharing apps dedicated for smart phones.
