According to a recent report from VR Focus, Microsoft is set to reveal their VR Headset in 2015, most likely being an E3 2015 reveal which is scheduled in June. According to the report, multiple developers have received early developer kits of Microsoft’s VR and with both Oculus Rift and Sony’s Project Morpheus being showcased this past year, Virtual Reality could become the next “gimmick” in video games.
Microsoft’s VR is said to be developed by the same team behind Microsoft’s tablet “Surface”. The VR headset is also set to be exclusive to the Xbox One console. With Microsoft who released their original Kinect in 2010, it makes sense that the tech company would release a virtual reality headset which could work in hand with the Kinect.
The big question around Virtual Reality is how it will work with the public as no prices have been revealed by either Oculus Rift or Project Morpheus. The price point could make or break Virtual Reality as the headset is a pretty nifty “console”. No release date has been revealed, though expect more news to be revealed next year as both Sony and Microsoft enter their second year for their new gaming consoles.
