2015 is shaping up to be one of the biggest years in gaming history. Many blockbuster titles have been scheduled for a 2015 release for years now while several major games which were originally meant for a 2014 release such as Batman: Arkham Knight in addition to The Witcher 3 were delayed so it is quite possible that the next 12 months will be some of the greatest the eight generation of consoles will ever have. Here are some of the game changers which will be available soon:
Batman: Arkham Knight
Rocksteady’s epic finale to the legendary Arkham series is sure to sell a few units when it releases on June 2nd. Batman: Arkham Knight is the long awaited sequel to possibly the best game on the last generation Batman: Arkham City. Gotham will be five times larger than the previous instalment’s map which sounds as if the iconic city will feel more like an actual city instead of a large prison. The new addition of the Batmobile should add a whole new dynamic to both traversal and combat. The most intriguing element of the title though is the identity of the new villain, The Arkham Knight.
The Legend Of Zelda Wii U
When Nintendo showed off Link in 1080p at E3 2014 people exploded with excitement. The latest adventure of Link will offer a massive open-world which has plenty of verticality. So far the gameplay which the Big N has showed off Zelda has been exceptional and since almost every Zelda game receives critical acclaim, it should be expected that the Wii U’s Zelda will live up to the hype.
Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number
Hotline Miami is arguably the best independent game of all time. The original release on the amazing and the game only got better when it came to consoles due to a better control scheme. Hotline Miami 2 is promising graphic scenes which are more violent than the first, which is saying something. New gameplay elements such as controlling two people at once, dual wielding and being able to create your own levels sound awesome. Out of all of the games on this list Hotline Miami will be releasing the soonest so get your wallets ready.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Just like Bruce Wayne, Geralt of Rivia’s story will be coming to an end in 2015 in a game which has been delayed multiple times, also like Batman. The delays could only be a positive for the overall experience that CD Projekt RED is hoping to provide. The Witcher 3 looks beautiful and also extremely fun. The previous Witchers were great so we are expecting big things from the third instalment of the series.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
Just like Link, Nathan Drake has never failed us; the Uncharted trilogy on the PS3 in addition to the excellent Vita entry are nothing short of spectacular. Naughty Dog have shown of some amazing visuals with the gameplay demo at the Playstation Experience that are well and truly unmatched by anything that we have seen before. New additions to the gameplay such as hiding in the foliage in addition Indiana Jones’ whip look really cool. This will most likely be the end to Nathan Drake’s story so hopefully Naughty Dog will end the narrative with a bang.
Halo 5: Guardians
Microsoft has many exclusive franchises in their back pocket but none of them are the commercial success which is the Halo franchise. Halo 5 will almost certainly be the Xbox One’s biggest game of 2015. As we have seen from the beta the red and blue teams have plenty of new tricks up their sleeves including smart scopes, clambering and enhanced melee. Let’s not forget that there will be a new set of guns in addition to new vehicles. Halo 5 should be one of the best first-person-shooters the Xbox One has to offer.
There are plenty more games coming in 2015 including the likes of The Order: 1886, Evolve, Bloodbourne, Star Fox, The Division, Assassin’s Creed: Victory and much, much more. Which games will you be picking up? Tell us in the comments below.
