In a recent interview, Yasuhisa Kawamura, the scenario writer for Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, has stated that he feels it is unlikely that an RE3 remake will be developed.

Kawamura had the following to say on his thoughts on a potential Resident Evil 3 remake:

“I could never turn down such an offer. I am very fond of [Resident Evil].

“To be honest, I would love to remake [Resident Evil] 3 with today’s technology and skills. However Capcom would never try that, and I am not that much of a valuable member to Capcom. The [Resident Evil] series is created by Capcom’s most elite members. It’s hard to imagine myself fitting in with such a prestigious team. Even if I were to successfully work on a [Resident Evil] 3 remake, there’s already Operation Racoon City and The Umbrella Chronicles. I doubt I have any chance.”

Released back in 1999, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is the third main entry in the series that chronologically takes place 24 hours before and after the events of Resident Evil 2.

Players took on the role of Jill Valentine, from the original Resident Evil, who is trying to make an escape from the zombie infested Raccoon City. While trying to escape she is chased by, the title character monster, Nemesis, who is hunting down surviving S.T.A.R.S. members.

While it seems that a remake of Resident Evil 3 is not on the horizon, fans of the survival horror series can look forward to the HD remaster of the GameCube remake of Resident Evil, which releases tomorrow on PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
