Oculus Quest 2 VR Headset Now Available To Buy

Facebook’s virtual reality subsidiary Oculus is officially selling its latest VR headset, the Oculus Quest 2, starting today. The gadget in question is available to consumers in the United States at $299. Not accounting for applicable sales tax, naturally, which is on par with this type of product releases.

You can buy the Oculus Quest 2 either directly from the manufacturer or any one of its numerous retail partners. Those include GameStop, Walmart, Best Buy, and Target in the U.S. Canadians may also be able to order one of these devices via Amazon. As previously announced, the Oculus Quest 2 requires you to have a Facebook account, which may be a deal-breaker for some consumers.

Granted, it is likely only a matter of time before this VR headset is jailbroken. History tells us this will happen sooner rather than later, as well.

Update: The device has been jailbroken. Well, that was quick.

In the meantime, those willing to give up their privacy in exchange for a VR content library will find a decent volume of content optimized for the Oculus Quest 2. This has actually been the manufacturer’s focus point in recent years, which makes sense considering how an overall lack of content has so far been one of the biggest points of criticism aimed against modern VR solutions.
