When was the last time you spent $4000 on Amiibos? Never? Me neither. In what is one of the strangest news pieces I have covered in recent memory, a collector going by the name of ‘Daily Dose’ or ‘DD’ has spent over $4000 on Amiibo with no plans of stopping. The strange part about it though is that the reason for this amount of spending is to simply make a specific Amiibo hard to find for others. In this case, it’s the Rosalina & Luma Amiibo. The collector states in an interview with NintendoNuggets that has now seemingly been removed:
‘The fact Nintendo promotes her (Rosalina) so much and people praise her is just disgusting. I hate her fans too I know for a fact her amiibo will be among one of the most popular which is why I took the time to wait and preorder over 100 of her. I do not want her fans to be happy I hate Rosalina as a character and I will enjoy selling her for big bucks.’
DD also claims that the same will be done with characters Lucina, Palutena, Robin and Zero Suit Samus. DD states that he ‘hates’ these characters and that Nintendo’s design of the characters ‘crush’ him.
What’s strange to me is that someone has gone to this extent to simply hinder fellow gamers who like a specific character. Then again, even with $4000 worth of purchases, there will be more than enough Amiibos for everyone else.
