Beat Games has announced what it describes as the biggest update in Beat Saber history. The Spring 2027 release is planned for Meta Quest, Meta VR Glasses, and Steam, and it includes a brand new mode, a new control option, and a refreshed campaign. The studio shared the details in an official announcement on September 24, 2026. Beat Saber recently earned Steam Frame Verified status, so the Steam version continues to receive high-profile support alongside this update.
Flux Mode Makes Hands the Weapons
Flux is the biggest single-player addition since the full release in 2019. It is built around hand tracking, and the player’s hands become the weapons. The Flux Tether channels power between the palms to slice through notes on the beat, while the left and right hands punch through other note targets. Destroying notes builds Jolt energy, and squeezing the fists while slicing triggers a Jolt for bigger scores. Flux also supports controllers.
At launch, Flux includes 35 songs from the Original Soundtracks, Extras, and Anniversary packs. The lineup features Lindsey Stirling, Teminite, DragonForce, Haywyre, Camellia, Boom Kitty, and in-house tracks from Jaroslav Beck and Zakka G. More Flux songs are planned after launch.
Campaign, Rewards, and a New Look
The single-player Campaign has been completely refreshed for new and veteran players. It adds a light narrative element, new barriers and missions, and checkpoints that unlock exclusive in-game rewards. The user interface has also been redesigned with a new menu system that gets players into modes and new content faster, and first-time players get an improved onboarding experience.
Beat Saber is adding its first progression and rewards system. Cosmetic rewards include new Sabers, Notes, and Bombs, plus Profile Badges and Banners. These items are tracked in a new inventory system. The update also debuts the first logo redesign in nearly a decade, along with new key art that keeps the red and blue energy.
Universal Hand Tracking Across the Library
For the first time, players can play all of Beat Saber without controllers. High-fidelity hand tracking will work across the entire song library. Controllers are not being removed, the studio says, and hand tracking is one more way to play rather than a replacement. On SteamVR, players will be able to access the new Flux mode and universal hand tracking when the update arrives.
