Slay the Spire 2 developer Mega Crit is teasing a small, floating, excitable inhabitant of a newly discovered dark area of the Spire. The studio shared the update in its September 2026 Neowsletter, the monthly newsletter for the roguelike deckbuilder now in Steam Early Access on PC, and confirmed the team has resumed work after a break in Barcelona.
Secret Features and Spire Spotting
The newsletter arrived later than usual because the team was on break, and the studio described the trip through the winding gothic quarters of Barcelona before it got back to work. Mega Crit says the team is now working on what it calls secret features, game modes, content, bug fixes, and quality of life improvements. There is still no timeline or detail for the next patch, but the studio said the things in progress are BIG and much of it is already being actively tested internally.
The edition is smaller than usual, but it brings back Spire Spotting, a segment that last appeared more than half a year ago, when players were still waiting for the Spire to open its gates to prospective slayers. In this edition, Mega Crit’s researchers say they have discovered another area of the Spire still shrouded in darkness, and they have already detected the silhouette of one of its inhabitants. The description calls it some sort of small, floating, excitable being that seems almost cute. It may be a while until this strange section of the Spire fully reveals itself, but players can help decipher the creature’s true form by submitting artistic guesses via fanmail@megacrit.com or in the game’s Discord fanart channel by Thursday, October 8th.
Merchandise and a Busy Deckbuilding Scene
At New York Comic Con from October 8-11, the Mana Wave booth, Booth 2778, will sell a limited edition Ironclad variant of the Slay the Spire 1 vinyl OST, with only 250 copies available. The next monthly community art theme is Neow-lloween, a spooky theme for the Spire. Slay the Spire 2 has been in Steam Early Access on PC since March 5, 2026, in a genre that keeps expanding, from cozy deckbuilders like Beastro to card games that borrow roguelike structure such as MARVEL SNAP’s roguelike Draft Mode.
