Deadlock has a new playable hero. Deadman Danny, introduced through Fairfax Industries as the company’s “most valuable salesman,” is available in-game now. He carries a rocket launcher and flies above the streets of New York using the Chimera Mk1, a device the announcement describes as “the latest and greatest in self-adhered aviation technology.”
The news comes from Valve’s post on the game’s Steam community page, published October 13, 2026. The Fairfax Industries employee spotlight introduces Danny as a flying damage dealer. His kit is built around marking targets with missiles, shedding heat from his flight system onto nearby enemies, and finishing with an explosive demonstration.
Strix Salvo, Jettison Fuel, and Close the Deal
The three named abilities suggest a hero who plays from above and commits only when the heat system works in his favor. Strix Salvo rains missiles down and marks enemies for future attacks. That gives Deadman Danny a reason to open from height, where the arc of the rockets can hit targets behind cover or in a tight lane. Jettison Fuel is the close-range answer: it expels heat from the Chimera System and douses nearby enemies in fire. Close the Deal is described as his most impressive tactic, an explosive hands-on demonstration of what Fairfax has to offer. The descriptions point to a sequence of landing marks at long range, dropping in to punish with fire, and then using Close the Deal to clear a contested area or secure a weakened target. This is interpretation based on the ability descriptions, not confirmed damage, cooldown, or range data. Deadman Danny arrives after recent Deadlock hero additions Solomon and Baba, and Valve notes that only two hero releases remain.
Why Flight Changes the Salesman’s Role
Flight is the main pressure tool. The Chimera Mk1 lets Danny hold a high angle over New York without needing a roof or zip line, which means he can threaten objectives from an overhead position. Jettison Fuel suggests heat management is part of the loop. If the Chimera System builds heat while flying, Jettison Fuel becomes a way to convert that heat into area damage. A player who stays airborne too long may become predictable, while a player who drops too early loses the advantage of the rocket launcher’s downward angle. The kit reads as a constant trade between staying high to land Strix Salvo marks and going low enough to use fire. Since Valve has not published overheat costs or movement speed, the exact rhythm remains to be tested in-game. The Fairfax Industries quote reinforces the pitch: “At Fairfax Industries we say ‘All’s Fair’, but that’s not true! Because with the Fairfax Chimera Mark 1, you have the advantage.”
Unanswered Questions Before October 16
The announcement does not specify whether Deadman Danny must be unlocked or is free for all players. There are no ability numbers, cooldowns, range values, or platform differences listed. It also does not say whether Friday October 16 at 2pm PDT is a reveal or a release, nor does it name the two remaining heroes. The voting process is mentioned as a way to help determine who joins next, but the announcement does not explain the format, cutoff, or whether the next hero is selected purely by vote count.
