Get ready to shoot and loot all over again, this time on the go. Sony has announced that the PlayStation Vita Slim model will launch in North America on May 6th. This sleeker version of Sony’s handheld has already been available in Europe and Japan where it has seen increased sales which were desperately needed for the struggling handheld. Alongside this announcement, it was revealed that the Slim will be bundled with a downloadable version of Borderlands 2. The only way to get the Slim is in this bundle which will cost $199.  A standalone version of Borderlands 2 for Vita will be available on May 13th.

The new handheld features 1GB of internal memory, better battery life, a new LCD display and a new design that makes the portable device more comfortable to hold. The bundle will include an 8GB memory card and the six previously released add-on packs for Borderlands 2. The add-on packs are as follows; the two add-on campaigns Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty and Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage, the Psycho and Mechromancer character classes, and finally the Ultimate Vault Hunter’s Upgrade Pack and Collector’s Edition Pack. Also note that Borderlands 2 on Vita is cross-save compatible with the PlayStation 3 version, so veteran players will be able to use their pre-existing character anywhere they want.

Borderlands 2 was originally released in 2012 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The game is a mix of first person shooting and RPG elements. It features four player co-operative multipayer and cell-shaded stylized graphics. Everything from the original version will be present on the Vita version which is developed by Iron Galaxy Studios, makers of indie fighting game Divekick, and published by Sony instead of 2K Games this time around. Borderlands creator Gearbox has said that Sony getting behind the project would be the only way the game could make it to Vita and they did just that in the summer of last year.
