The Last of Us directors Neil Druckman and Bruce Straley are taking the reins on Uncharted PS4, Naughty Dog co-presidents Evan Wells and Christophe Balestra confirmed to Game Informer. Uncharted PS4, as it will be known as until Naughty Dog unveils the full title, lost Creative Director Amy Hennig earlier this year. Prior to working on The Last of Us, Druckmann and Straley worked on Uncharted 1 and Uncharted 2. Druckmann served as co-writer and co-designer on Uncharted 2, while Straley co-directed the game alongside Hennig.
The news that Druckmann and Straley are taking over is certainly an exciting development, as most regard Uncharted 2 as the best game of the series. A trailer for Uncharted is expected at E3 next week.
Additionally, Wells revealed that the company is in pre-production on another project “on the scale of Uncharted.” “We have the sizable team that it takes to get something like that off of the ground, but it’s got a long runway in front of it. We have a lot of great ideas and some stuff that is already getting everybody jazzed and excited. So, it’s a long way off before we can really start talking about it in detail,” Wells told Game Informer.
