Wii U to be a more popular console?
Finally! Wii U and 3DS, the first ever crossbuy for these platforms has been announced! If you buy Squids Odyssey for the 3DS, you’ll receive a copy for the Wii U, too. In order to crossbuy, you must have your 3DS and Wii U linked with the same Nintendo Network ID, and said game should be purchased from the 3DS eShop. This opens up the door for more crossbuy games, and hopefully Nintendo will be placing more control in the hands of the developers. It also makes the ability to port from 3DS to Wii U and vice versa more of a reality.
While a large group of the gaming community doesn’t think that there are too many great, anticipated games for the Wii U (aside from Mario Kart 8, and a handful of other games), this opportunity can bridge a gap between the two platforms and open up the Wii U to more “popular” games. This can be the thing that directs developers attention to the Wii U and makes the console more popular, eventually resulting in bigger, more popular games.
Great! Nintendo is progressing, and becoming more attuned to the changing market. Now what about the game? Squids Odyssey is an Indie, turn-based, action-strategy game. It is colorful and quirky, taking place in a charming underwater environment. Our underwater heroes must defeat “the Ooze” plaguing their homes. Shoot and bounce your customized team of heroic characters off of seawalls and into enemies. The perfect word for the game seems to be “charming.”
This cute little game brings a hopeful outlook on the future of the Wii U and Nintendo’s efforts to stay more current and true to the developers, in addition to hours of strategic, action-packed play time in a colorful underwater world. Squid’s Odyssey may be just your reason to finally get a Wii U.
