Look out toxic players Riot Games are looking for you
Anyone whose played League of Legends over the years may have noticed that some players seem more interested in pissing everyone off then playing the game. Well if your one of these “toxic players” as they’ve been named than watch out because on Twitter Riot Games Jeffrey Lin announced that Riot Games is bringing the fight to toxic players by way of a 14 day or permanent bans.
On Reddit Jeffrey Lin explained that they are targeting “extreme cases of toxicity” and these sort of acts include but aren’t limited to racism, death threats, homophobic comments and intentionally feeding the other team. In the event that you are caught for doing any of this than you will either get a 14 or permanent ban. If you get a permanent ban you will see a ban code of 2500 throughout these tests.
To find toxic players they’re using a new machine learning approach as well as player support manual and they’ll be testing it one server at a time so they can monitor their new system.
If you feel like you’ve been unfairly banned than you of course can but Riot Games are taking these bans seriously so if you complain, Riot Games will post the chat logs to show other players why you were banned in the first place.
Riot Games will be releasing more information about this system in the future through their usual channels like the League forums. This isn’t the only system their planning either as Jeffrey Lin also mentioned on Reddit that they are going to address Leavers/AFK players “very severely in the future”.
Riot Games are clearly doing a lot to make League of Legends as enjoyable an experience as possible but do you think their going to far or from your past LoL experience do you think this is necessary?
