Since 2002 there have been two coins in Super Mario 64 that have been deemed “impossible” to obtain; one in Snowman’s Land, that is a solitary coin stuck inside the snowman at the wooden path on the side where you would climb, and the coin in Tiny-Huge Island that received the nickname the Impossible Coin. The Tiny-Huge island coin can be found underneath the ground, by a slope next to a metal ball generator, a particular coin which has baffled the playing community.
A quick history check shows years of content and forums displaying people’s efforts to reach the unreachable, but no more. Player pannenkoek2012 has used a method that shows when you exit the water from the side there is a single frame in which Mario can jump and kick forward back onto the level while simultaneously collecting the desired coin.
“The coin was most likely just overlooked by the game’s programmers and wasn’t supposed to be in the game,” someone wrote on SM64, a website dedicated to tracking the progress of the coins capture.
