Yes, it’s highly possible that Halo 3 Anniversary will happen eventually, more than likely in 2017, but for now 343 Industries have revealed some of the general changes included in the remastered version of Halo 3 within Halo: The Master Chief Collection. With the focus primarily being on Halo 5: Guardians, Halo 2 Anniversary, and the ‘Halo Channel’, it’s understandable that not much of Halo 3 was spoke about in-depth, although a few members of the press got an insight yesterday at Gamescom 2014.
The most notable changes, or improvements if you will, is to the gameplay, which will run a lot faster at 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second. Additional work on the visuals and graphics has been done, improving the lighting model and shaders to bring an already beautiful looking game into today’s next-gen expectations. Expect the likes of water effects, forests, and such to look a lot more impressive this time around.
343 Industries have said they will show of Halo 3 further down the line, perhaps when the Gamescom hype has died down a little. Originally released in 2007 on the Xbox 360, Halo 3 scored perfect or almost-perfect review scores, making it one of the most successful Xbox 360 titles of all time, and a fan favorite within the Halo franchise.
