Destiny writer, Joshua Rubin, has parted ways with Bungie to join Telltale Games to work on their upcoming episodic take on Game of Thrones.
Rubin told Gamasutra that even though he enjoyed his work with Bungie and the rest of the Destiny creative team, “in the end, Bungie makes games about shooting aliens in the head. And while there’s true art to ‘writing between the bullets’ I couldn’t turn down an offer from Telltale, to create games that are entirely about story.”
Rubin has moved around and worked as a writer for EA Visceral and Capcom. His work on the script for Assassin’s Creed II was nominated for a Video Game Writing Award in 2010. It’s safe to say he’ll feel right at home with Telltale Games.
Telltale Games recently finished The Wolf Among Us with great reception, and is about to finish its second season of The Walking Dead, which is also a highly acclaimed series. Their next projects include Tales from the Borderlands which they are collaborating on with Gearbox, and Game of Thrones both slated for release in the latter half of 2014.
