A recent photo of a Japanese promo package for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS reveals a possible file size for the game.
A new post on Neogaf has shown off a promo package for the upcoming 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. (shown below) which reveals the eShop download size for the title listed as 2.1 GB (or 17,300 blocks, the measurement Nintendo uses when downloading eShop titles). With Super Smash Bros. for 3DS being a major title for the 3DS this year, this large file size might be a major turn off for the downloadable version of the title. This is not the first time a 3DS title has reached a high download size, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D was a title that clocked in at 2.16 GB (or 17,693 blocks) which actually makes it larger than Super Smash Bros. for 3DS.
While the Neogaf post has yet to be officially confirmed as being the real deal, Nintendo Life seems to think the picture is of a genuine promotional package as nothing seems to contradict the already announced material and that these type of promotional materials are common in Japan for pre-orderable items. Nintendo Life also seems to believe that the file size might change when brought to the Western territories, but until anything official is revealed everything, so far, is speculation.
The Neogaf post will remain as only a possibility that seems extremely likel, but gamers will know the size of the title soon enough as Super Smash Bros. for 3DS will see a release on both the eShop and at retail on October 3rd.
