Amzaon UK has released its pre-order numbers for games that appeared at Gamescom 2014. And the results are quite surprising.
Despite not having any sort of press conference at the event, Nintendo’s Wii U had the largest game pre-order increase during the German convention. It rose by 8.67 percent while Playstation 4 and Xbox One pre-orders saw an increase in game pre-orders of 5.16 percent and 2.1 percent, respectively. However, it is worth noting that, if Wii U’s numbers were lower than its competition, it wouldn’t have taken a large amount of pre-orders in order to spike the percentage.
As for the games, Slightly Mad Studios’ Project Cars, Square Enix’s Rise of the Tomb Raider and Sony’s Bloodborne were the top 3 most pre-ordered games since Gamescom 2014. Interestingly enough, Rise of the Tomb Raider still managed to get in a lot of pre-orders, despite the backlash surrounding the fact that it is going to be a timed Xbox One exclusive, while AAA titles like Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Halo: The Master Chief Collection didn’t even make the top 10.
Here are the top 10 most pre-ordered game after Gamescom 2014 (The consoles listed are in order of which console the game was the most pre-ordered on):
- Project Cars (Playstation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, PC): 42.53 percent increase
- Rise of the Tomb Raider (Xbox One): 30.25 percent increase
- Bloodborne (Playstation 4): 16.08 percent increase
- Hyrule Warriors (Wii U): 11.77 percent increase
- Quantum Break (Xbox One): 10.77 percent increase
- Far Cry 4 (Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC): 9.53 percent increase
- Assassin’s Creed Unity (Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC): 9.44 percent increase
- Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor (Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC): 9.03 percent increase
- Battlefield: Hardline (Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC): 8.81 percent increase
- Super Smash Bros. 3DS (3DS): 7.56 percent increase
Keep in mind, these numbers are for the United Kingdom and do not reflect the entirety of the games’ pre-orders. Hopefully, Amazon and other video game retailers will release their pre-order figures, so that we may have a bigger picture at the most anticipated games that are coming very soon.
