Both the phones are packed with similar features with difference in terms of supported OS and camera quality. But let’s find out which one is better amongst the two.

Nokia Lumia 525

Following the same design pattern of the Lumia series, Nokia launched 525 targeting the mid segment.

Design and Display

The design and build quality is almost the same as other Lumia models except for the fact that rear panel is removable to access the battery and SIM slot. The front panel houses a 4-inch IPS LCD display with 480*800 pixel resolution and 233 pixel density. The display is good with sharp images and great viewing angles. The screen is super sensitive and can be easily operated even with finger nails.

Specifications, Camera and Battery

It is has Microsoft Windows 8(upgradeable to 8.1) and is powered by a 1GHZ dual core processor with 1 GB RAM and 8GB internal storage (expandable up to 64GB). The apps load quickly and there is no lag in scrolling web pages. Overall the performance of the phone is good when playing games and multitasking. It is fitted with a 5MP rear camera with autofocus but has no flash and no front camera support which means no video calling. The camera quality is decent in day light and very poor when clicked indoors or in low light as there is no flash. The 1430 mAh battery gives a good one day’s backup with mixed usage.

Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2

This was the much awaited successor to Samsung Galaxy S Duos with similar performance made available at an affordable price.

Design and Display

This phone with 121.5 x 63.1 x 10.6 mm dimensions weighs 118 grams which makes it easy to carry around. It comes with a removable back with a battery, micro SD card slot and micro SIM slot tucked in. The power is on the right side and the volume rocker on the left. The micro USB port is on the bottom with built in mic. It has a 4 inch screen with 480 x800 pixel resolution transforming into 233 ppi density. It’s TFT capacitive touchscreen comes with multi touch enabled.

Specifications, Camera and Battery

S Duos 2 has 4.2 Jelly Bean Android OS, 1.2 GH Cortex A-9 dual core processor and 68 MB RAM. The internal memory is 4 GB extendable to 64 GB. It has a 5 MP primary camera along with auto focus and LED flash. It has a VGA for front camera which provides for video calling facility. It is powered with 1500 mAh battery which is very poor for a smartphone.

Overall

We found windows OS to be limited when compared with android OS. In addition, performance-wise S Duos 2 beats Lumia 525 hands down.
