Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have the power and freedom to create your own spells? Maybe you wanted to summon hordes of adorable jelly minions to act as your body guards, or build a turret that will rapid fire miniature suns or even fire lasers that shoot exploding black holes that suck out your enemies life force. If anything like this has been a dream of yours, the good thing is you can totally do that now. On a side note, you might want to consider seeking out some help, maybe to craft some new goals.
What originally started as a summer side project for Chris Hutchinson (at that point it was called Generator Quest) Magicmaker quickly became a full-time commitment and saw the founding of Tasty Stewdios. Magicmaker is a 2D side-scrolling rpg platformer that features a spellcrafting system that allows you to make just about anything. Seriously, with over two-million possible spell combinations, you can be the wizard you always wanted to be (and maybe show Harry Potter what a Stag can really do if you just add some poisonous fire-breath). Magicmaker also features randomly-generated levels so no play through is ever quite the same and with its wide-range of possible customization’s, you can really make your character unique to you.
The Adventure Behind Magicmaker
What kind of a magical story is complete without some opposition? Harry Potter had Voldemort. Gandalf had Sauron. In Magicmaker, your story begins like any other;
You’re a young wizard with no job, a huge rent payment due, and a certificate from 3-week cheesemaking course. But the World of Magic has all kinds of opportunities for magic-users! Just brave the perilous journey to the legendary WIZARD TEMP AGENCY down the street and take whatever career the Job Placement Spell picks for you.
And it thinks you’d make a great Security Guard!
That’s right, you play as a young wizard who gets hired to be a wizard security guard at Dörwall Community College. From there, you get to go on adventures, protect students, do jobs for your co-workers and maybe, just maybe, save the world. But only when you’re off work. Magicmaker is set to be released on Steam September 22 and if spellcrafting is your favorite pas-time then be sure to check it out.
