The GoPro Hero 3+ camera is well regarded for its high quality pictures and videos. You need to learn a few tips so that you can get the best from the device.

Gaining a comprehensive understanding of the mount

Whatever you want to mount the device on be it or a skateboard or another thing, you need to familiarise yourself with the mount and make sure that you know how to work it. Before you start filming, make sure that you test the angles and the outcome to the optimum angle. This will be influenced by where you go. For example, if you are going on a bike ride and you want to capture the whole thing then you will have to mount it on your chest or helmet.

Plan the story in full

Even though you want things to be spontaneous if you are wanting to catch things as they happen, you still need to have some sort of outline that you want to film. If you want to get it just right, then you have to capture the entire thing in full by careful planning. You can also edit things as well of course but you will save yourself a lot of time in the long run as you will be able to spend less time editing the product.

Practicing

This is a fairly obvious point, but it is worth making the point that you will only take the shot that you want to with this device after you have practiced doing so. You will get used to it through practice and things will just seem to flow a little easier and like how you want it to. Experiment with angles and other variables to get the best shot. You may want to also play around with the people that you have in your shot. Although some of them will fit the scene better than others if they are more photogenic, you may find that certain angles and backgrounds suit other people better. For example, someone who has an angular face will probably react well to a nighttime shot which shows off their well-defined features. Furthermore, think about what time of the day that you want to shoot on as this can have a significant impact on the type of video that you do. There are so many things to consider.

Play your angles

There will be times when you do not want to film from a single field view as you may find it boring. Mount the camera in a few different positions and consider which is the best place to film from and you will find the best angle for you. You may need different angles for each scene that you do.

Shooting from the hip

It is worth bearing in mind that the GoPro Hero 3+ is more than just a mere video camera, it has many other uses. You can also use it take photos as well and it has editing software ingrained into it to help you make the most of these photos.
