Star Fox- Nintendo’s classic game series about a bunch of furry-fanfic-fodder in spaceships shooting other furry-fanfic-fodder- seems to finally be getting a new installment after what seems like ages.
The last we’ve heard of the adventures of Fox McCloud and his misadventures with his Arwing Squad was Star Fox Command on the DS (unless you count the re-release of Star Fox 64 on the 3DS, which I don’t). Despite having a dedicated following, the series, like its fellow Nintendo IPs Metroid and Kid Icarus, has been largely left in the dust, ignored by its Italian-plumber-obsessed masters.
That is, until Star Fox came up on this interesting little tweet from Nintendo…
Personally, I find it a bit odd that Nintendo announced Star Fox by grouping it with all of the other games they’ve screamed about from the rooftops. It’s almost as if even when they give Star Fox attention, they have to overshadow its existence out of some perceived need to compensate.
While I’m not a massive fan of the series, I think this announcement is going to get a lot of people hyped. Frankly, as long as its not Star Fox Adventures 2: The Revenge, I think our furry (in the non-fetishy context) friend’s franchise is going to enjoy another well-made installment.
