Famitsu has revealed that first print versions of Final Fantasy Explorers for Nintendo 3DS will not only include a bonus quest to gain the iconic Onion Knight’s gear in game, but will also include a download code for Final Fantasy I, complete with 3D support.
Final Fantasy Explorers’ Japanese release date of December 18, 2014 is also the anniversary of the progenitor of the Final Fantasy series, and to commemorate this SquareEnix has revamped the original title with full Nintendo 3DS steroscopic vision support. You can see screenshots of the updated version below.
Final Fantasy Explorers is a cooperative monster hunting game in the vein of Capcom’s Monster Hunter series in which you fight the summon monsters from the Final Fantasy series.
While there has yet to be much word in the way of a Western release for Final Fantasy Explorers, patents for the name have been filed in Europe and the US, so it seems like it is only a matter of time. What remains to be seen if whether or not the Final Fantasy I port will make its way to the West.
