Gamers expecting a full-blown, open world follow-up to United Front’s 2012 sleeper hit are sure to be disappointed due to the fact that the studio has mentioned that Sleeping Dogs: Triad Wars will be a “PC online game.”
As for what the term “PC online game” entails, much is left to be revealed by United Front Games. However, speculation points to the possibility of Triad Wars being a free-to-play, multiplayer-only game.
Unfortunately, as previously mentioned, United Front Games Triad Wars announcement practically rules out the possibility of a full-fledged, AAA sequel to Sleeping Dogs. However, it will be interesting to see what the studio has in store.
Gamers interested in the Sleeping Dogs: Triad Wars should keep an eye on United Front Game’s official Twitter account.
In related news, Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition, an updated, improved version of the original game is due to release in October.
The Definite Edition is essentially a remastering of the original Sleeping Dogs for current generation consoles and PC.
It will also contain all pieces of downloadable content from the original game, including Nightmare in North Point and Year of the Snake, as well as a variety of weapon and clothing packs (some inspired by other Square Enix games).
What are your thoughts on Sleeping Dogs: Triad Wars? Are you looking forward to United Front Games’ reveal on Monday? Did you play the original Sleeping Dogs? If so (or even if you didn’t), will you be picking up the game’s Definitive Edition?
