Kiss your ridiculous auto rifle sprees and Shotgun KOs goodbye, and welcome the Scout Rifle as Destiny’s newest contender. Today, on October the 14th, Bungie will be releasing a hotfix that introduces the first of many weapon balances. The hotfix focuses on weapon balance, making the scout rifle a viable option in the Crucible, Destiny’s main player vs player game mode.
The scout rifle will have it’s base damage increased by 6%, and will do up to 25% more damage against enemies based on tier. Additionally, these semi-automatic rifles will receive recoil tuning and improved target acquisition.
As promised, the effectiveness of the auto rifle will be decreased. The auto rifle’s base damage will be lowered by 2%, head shot bonus multiplier will decrease from 1.5 to 1.25, and the weapon stability will see anywhere from a 4 to a 17% decrease based on stats.
The all-powerful shotgun will also be included in Bungie’s nerfed weapons list, specifically seeing a 20% reduction in base damage at maximum range. Alongside the damage reduction, the Shot Package perk now has a slightly wider cone of fire and is no longer compatible with the Rangefinder perk.
And finally, the fabled Vex Mythoclast will see it’s damage reduced by a whopping 34%. However, there is no reason to fear raiders, this exotic weapon’s head shot multiplier is being upped from 1.25 to 1.50, so aim true and you will remain victorious!
A various number of fixes, balances and improvements are included alongside these changes to include perk and class modifications. Oh, and the new loot cave 2.0 will be no more as “The Fallen have retreated from their hold over the Rocket Yard to discuss a new takeover plan.” Bungie was sure to mention that a second, larger update that will address under-powered exotics and class balance is in the works.
