Digital Titles Download

Nintendo of America now allows you to pre-purchase certain digital titles on their official website. You can purchase with a credit card by signing in using your e-mail address and have the code e-mailed to you upon the game’s release, or by signing in with your Nintendo ID you can save your card information for future purchases and have the digital title’s download code sent automatically to your system. This purchase system also lets you buy digital titles as gifts for friends and family.

Currently only a few titles are taking advantage of this service, including Fantasy Life, and Smash Bros for 3DS and Wii U.

Nintendo’s online offerings have been criticized countless times, as games purchased online are locked to only one system, you were not able to purchase digital titles as gifts, and the eShop previously was not available on the world wide web. With this move it seems like Nintendo is taking a step in the right direction, making it easier to buy games when you are not near your console.

Will you be pre-purchasing your digital titles online? Or simply wait till they release and purchase them on the e-shop? Let us know in the comments.
