We are looking at the Nokia Lumia 830 and how it stacks up against the HTC Desire 820. Two good phones that were released in September, but now are available around the world.
Sizes, Displays, and Designs
The HTC Desire 820 doesn’t really offer much difference in design compared with their other HTC devices in the mid-range; it has a rounded edge glossy plastic flat and rectangular rear. At the top and bottom of the front panel are the two BoomSound speakers and the double-shot color technology newly introduced by HTC. Its design offers a two-tone color unibody, where the HTC logo, the circle around the rear camera, and the frame are the same color. The main body is offered in other colors such as orange, red, white, and, etc. The HTC Desire 820’s offers a 5.5 inch LCD display with 720 x 1280 decent resolution, and pixel density of 267ppi. The 157.7 x 78.7 x 7.7 mm dimensions make it very thin, and it weighs only 155 grams.
The design of the Lumia 830 is provides a more angular design with slightly curved corners and straight edges. The back’s gentle curve makes holding the phone feel very comfortable compared to the Desire 820. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 covers the front panel, with a 5 inch IPS LCD display fitted into its clear black. It offers the same resolution as the HTC Desire 820 but offers a 294ppi of pixel density. The dimensions are 139.4 x 70.7 x 8.5 mm and it weighs only 150 grams, making it slightly lighter than the HTC Desire 820.
OS and Hardware
Powered by the octa-core that consists of a quad-core 1GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and quad-core 1.5GHz Cortex-A53, it is supported with the Adreno 405 GPU and the Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset (64-bit). The HTC Desire 820 provides 16GB of internal memory and 2GB of RAM. It allows for expandable memory for up to 128GB and runs on the Android KitKat v4.4.2.
The Lumia 830 runs on a quad-core 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 processor, along with an Adreno 305 GPU and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset for 1GB of RAM. The HTC Desire 820 and the Lumia 830 offer the same internal memory capacity and it also supports 128GB of expandable memory, but it runs on the Microsoft Windows Phone 8.1 OS.
Cameras
When looking to buy a new smartphone and want to take some good pictures, then you need to choose one that offers a good camera. For these smartphone each provides a killer rear camera. The HTC Desire 820 has rear camera with 13MP; it features simultaneous HD image and video recording, HDR, autofocus, LED flash, and front camera equipped with 8MP.
The Lumia 830 has a Carl Zeiss optics 10MP rear camera. It features PureView technology, optical image stabilization, autofocus, and LED flash. However, you will likely be disappointed in the front camera that only offers .9MP resolution.
Batteries
Getting to enjoy your phone is much better when you have a battery that lasts, and in the case of Desire 820, the 2600mAh non-removable battery last much longer than Lumia 830. The Lumia 830’s battery is 2200mAh which when talking on 3G last up to 15 hours.
Other features
Both the HTC and the Lumia support nano-SIM, microUSB, Bluetooth v4.0, WiFi, and 4G LTE. The HTC Desire 820 also supports dual-SIM, while the Lumia 830 has NFC support.

The Nokia Lumia 830 is priced at $412 while you can find the HTC Desire 820 on the Indian Market for $407.
