Released in 2013, the Galaxy Mega is still a hit, while fresh on the market is Vibe Z2 Pro. The second phablet as expected is a lot more expensive and much more powerful. So for those that are looking for perfection, you probably want to spend some extra mullah on the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro.
Sizes, Displays, and Designs
Much like other Samsung devices, the Galaxy Mega 6.3 fits its name because you will need a mega pocket just to handle the extraordinary phablet. The 6.3 SC-LCD display provides a nice 720 x 1280 pixel resolution with 233ppi pixel density. The Galaxy Mega provides a removable plastic rear panel, with the located MicroUSB port on the bottom. Located on the top is the headset jack, on the left is the volume buttons, and on the right is the power button. The home screen is located below and on both sides is the capacitive buttons. The dimensions are 167.6 x 88 x 8mm and weighing 220 grams makes it a giant of a phone.
The brushed metal unibody design of the thinner Vibe Z2 Pro weighs on 20 grams lighter with dimensions of 156 x 81.3 x 7.7mm. Smaller than the Samsung phablet makes it’s a smaller display at only 6 inches. The IPS LCD display protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 has a 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution, and 490ppi pixel density.
OS and Hardware
The freshly released Vibe Z2 Pro provides a more advanced hardware components powered by Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset. Running on four cores it supports a Krait 400 processor coupled with Adreno 330 GPU clocked at 2.5GHz.
The Samsung Mega isn’t sluggish by any means as it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Chipset and Adreno 305 GPU, and a dual core Krait 300 processor clocked at 1.7 GHz.
The Samsung Mega has two variants that only offer 8GB and 16GB internal storage capacity, compared to the 32GB internal storage of the Vibe Z2 Pro. However, the Samsung Mega allows for expandable memory up to 64GB, and 1.5GB of RAM, while the Lenovo has double the capacity for expandable memory.
The Samsung Mega runs on the Android Jelly Bean v4.2.2, which can upgrade to the KitKat v4.4.2. The Vibe Z2 Pro comes with the Android KitKat v4.4.2.
Cameras
The Galaxy Mega offers an 8MP rear camera that provides features of smile and face detection, geotagging, touch focus, panorama, HDR, autofocus, and LED flash. While the, it has a 1.9MP secondary camera on the front panel.
The Vibe Z2 Pro has a 16MP excellent rear camera with features such as dual-LED flash, optical image stabilization, and a 5MP front camera.
Batteries
Each phablet houses a big battery, with the Vibe Z2 Pro having the bigger battery at 4000mAh, which offers over 45 hours of talk time, but it’s non-removable. The Galaxy Mega has a 3200mAh battery, on the other hand, which only lasts up to a disappointing 10 hours on 3G talk.

The Vibe Z2 Pro can be found for $540 while the Galaxy Mega is priced at $323 on Amazon.com.
