Both laptops are much appreciated in the office for both the business oriented woman and man as it provides the best features for doing work. So we decided to put the two against each other and see how they both stack up.
Design
With the dimensions of 292 x 201 x 9.1 mm and 801 grams the Surface Pro 3 provides a lightweight laptop. The MacBook Air however is thicker with dimensions of 300 x 192 x 17 mm, it is heavier than the Surface Pro 3 weighing 1.08 kg.
Screen
Looking at the displays, the Surface Pro 3 offers a ClearType Full HD 12 inch screen, with a resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels. The MacBook Air features versions of the 11 and 13 versions, and a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, which trails in comparison to the screen quality of the Surface Pro 3.
Software and Hardware
Microsoft Surface Pro 3 processor comes in three versions the i3, i5, and the i7. Their RAM capacity also differs with 4GB and 8GB. The battery capacity that powers the Surface Pro can provide up to 9 hours of life. The MacBook Air offers processor options of i5 and i7, with 4GB and 8GB of RAM capacities, which produces about similar specifications. However, the battery life of the MacBook Air offers over 12 hours of life, which is great for on the go.
Microsoft Surface Pro 3 runs on Windows 8.1 OS while the MacBook Air runs on the OS X Mavericks. Each operating systems provides a more appealing experience, with Windows users learning more towards the Microsoft Surface Pro 3.
Conclusion
So by looking at both of the laptops they both provide great user experience and make a decision more difficult. The decision mainly rests on what the users provides a more comfortable feel. The Apple users will lean towards the MacBook Air while the Surface Pro 3 will be popular with the Window users.
