The absolutely brilliant strategy game Civilization 5 is completely free to download and play on Steam until Thursday this week. The game has been made free to celebrate the upcoming release of Civilization Beyond Earth. If you’re interested in playing Civilization 5, then you can head on over to your Steam client and start downloading or you can click this link to head to the Steam website. Unfortunately, only the base game is free, but hey, free stuff! The game will set you back 4.8GB of hard drive space.
Civilization 5 is a turn based 4x strategy game that released in 2010 for Windows PC and OS X. A Linux version released earlier this year. Each game revolves around building a civilization of your choosing, and then competing against or in some cases working together with other civilizations to increase your wealth, your army and your civilization in general. The game is incredibly deep with a bunch of things to do, if you like these kinds of games you will play Civilization 5 for hours. Add in multiplayer with friends and you have one of the best multiplayer games on the PC platform too.
