Geoff Keighley, host of GameTrailersTV and, more relevantly, the executive producer of VGX (formerly known as the Spike TV Video Game Awards Show), has recently tweeted a rather intriguing image stating that he had a “great night planning with the ladies who run Bethesda,” hinting at the possibility of a major game announcement – possibly Fallout 4 – at this year’s VGX.
See Keighley’s tweet and read more details on the possibility of a Fallout 4 announcement at this year’s VGX after the break.
Fallout 4 Announcement at VGX 2014?

Many gamers’ initial thoughts surmised that gameplay of Bethesda’s upcoming DOOM reboot would be publicly revealed at this year’s VGX.
However, after closer inspection (and looking at Bethesda’s previous track record with the Spike TV Video Game Awards), it appears that the gaming community may finally receive that long-awaited, long-overdue Fallout 4 announcement.
View some possible reasons below:
If Fallout 4 were to be revealed at VGX 2014, it would fit right in line with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim‘s pre-release schedule, which was as follows:
- Official announcement at 2010 Spike Video Game Awards (now VGX)
- Gameplay reveal at E3 2011
- Release in November 2011
Fallout 4‘s pre-release schedule would look fairly similar were it to be revealed at this year’s VGX:
- Official announcement at VGX 2014
- Gameplay reveal at E3 2015
- Release in November 2015
Keep in mind that this is entirely rumor and speculation. It may or may not be accurate. It could very well be something, but on the other side of the same coin, it could be nothing.
Keighley has previously revealed on Twitter that this year’s VGX/Video Game Awards Show will be on December 5th, 2014, which can be seen below:

In response to Keighley’s tweet above, hopefully, some Fallout 4 news arises from VGX 2014.
What are your thoughts on the possibility of a Fallout 4 announcement at this year’s VGX? Is it likely, given Bethesda’s Skyrim pre-release schedule, or will nothing come of it? Would you rather it be news on another Bethesda-published/developed game, such as the aforementioned DOOM reboot or a Dishonored sequel?
