Konami Confirms Price Drop for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, the prologue for Hideo Kojima’s upcoming open-world stealth title Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, has been reduced to $19.99, publisher Konami has announced.

“As interest continues to escalate for the forthcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, the new price-point offers users the chance to practice their sneaking skills ahead of Hideo Kojima’s next adventure,” Konami issued in a press release.

Ground Zeroes was released earlier this year and met with a mixed reception due to the title’s extremely short campaign (which can be completed in under an hour), but the game was still praised by many critics for the visuals created by Kojima Productions’ Fox Engine and improved gameplay mechanics.

Kojima, who was recently presented with a Lifetime Achievement award during the Golden Joystick Awards, has been busy in the development of his eagerly awaited follow-up to Ground Zeroes, as the director also confirmed earlier this month that Stefanie Joosten, the Dutch-born Japanese model portraying the sniper Quiet, has been recording her lines for The Phantom Pain.

With Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid franchise surpassing the 39-million mark in games sold earlier this year, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes’ physical versions are now available for $19.99 on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, on the other hand, is yet to receive an official release date, but the title is rumoured to launch in Q1 of 2015 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
