Google Chrome Stars, an extension for bookmarks, showed users a glimpse of a new bookmark system; However, it was recently pulled off of the Google Chrome Web Store. Stars is back, but now has a new, simpler name: Bookmark Manager Extension. It works in the same way that Stars did and takes over bookmarks on the Chrome browser. It is definitely an improved experience from the regular bookmarking features. When you open bookmarks into the browser, you notice that the list of links and folders are gone. This extension replaces them with colorful folder tiles, sorted by categories.
The new features of the extension include being able to save with one click. Now, you can save an image or create notes to go along with the page you want bookmarked. An image from the site will now be shown in the manager tab, making it much easier to tell why you bookmarked that site in the first place. All of your bookmarks will be sorted by topics. After bookmarking a page, a window will also pop up allowing you to choose the most appropriate topic sub-folder for the web page.
The extension now has an improved search function as well. The searching feature is now being powered by Google search. It also looks beyond the title of the page by looking into the bookmarks’ content including words and images found within that page.
Also, you can now share your bookmarks through Google Chrome. The extension makes it possible to make specific folders “public” which will generate a link to the folder. This link allows you to share your bookmarks online to anyone.
In addition, if you use Google Chrome on multiple devices, you no longer will have to set the same bookmark on each device. The new extension allows you to sync bookmarks to all of your devices whenever sync is enabled on the browser. Any old bookmark on the other devices will also be updated with the new pictures and components feature.
The Bookmark Manager Extension for Google Chrome beefs up the bookmarks and gives the user a better overall experience when saving webpages.
