Google just announced their latest entry into the Nexus family on October 15th, with the Nexus 6.
We had witnessed Apple’s unveiling of their record-breaking Apple iPhone 6 and Apple iPhone 6 Plus prior to that. It is no doubt that these two smartphones will up against each other in the market, so we decided to compare the two to get the differences.
Display
The display happens to stand out between the two smartphones. The Retina LCD HD touch screen found on the iPhone 6 has a 4.7 inch screen. While the Nexus 6 sports, a QHD AMOLED 5.9 inch touchscreen with a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. So the Nexus 6 has the iPhone 6 beat by 1.2 inches.
It also comes out on top in regards to their pixel resolution and sports 493 ppi pixel density. While the iPhone 6 offers 326 ppi pixel density.
The iPhone 6 has better angles with their LCD display which makes it a great display. Where the AMOLED technology deployed on the Nexus 6 makes for more contrast and vibrant images.
Weight And Size
The weight and size of the two devices are also major differences. The Nexus 6 measures 6.27 x 3.27 x .40 inches and weighs 6.49 ounces. The iPhone 6, on the other hand, weighs only 4.55 ounces and measures 5.44 x 2.64 x .27. Which means the Nexus 6 is heavier and bigger than the iPhone 6.
Camera
Apple iPhone 6 offers a rear facing 8MP camera, and a front-facing camera providing 2.1 pixels. Where the Nexus 6 has a rear-facing 13MP camera and a 2MP front-facing shooter.
However, looking at the differences, the features are what also stand out for the Nexus 6. The iPhone 6 doesn’t have an optical image stabilization features while the Nexus 6 doesn’t have the time-lapse and slow motion capabilities.
The iPhone 6 is able to shoot 1080p@60FPS videos while the Nexus 6 is able to take an astounding 4000@30fps.
Storage
The iPhone 6 offers three variants that provide storage capabilities of 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB. While the Nexus 6 comes in two variants of storage capacity with 32GB and 64GB. They both do not offer expandable memory slots.
The Apple iPhone 6 doesn’t provide the 32GB that is sort of downer, since it was the most liked version. While the Nexus 6 doesn’t get to the 128GB offered by iPhone 6.
Performance
They also have two various processors to operate their phones. Apple’s 64 bit A8, which is a dual-core processor with 1.4GHz speeds, along with the M8 processor. On the other hand, the Nexus 6 comes with a Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor that has 2.7GHz speeds. The iPhone 6 provides 1GB of RAM, while the Nexus 6 offers 3GB of RAM.
The 64-bit architecture of the iPhone 6 coupled with the GPU and M8 Co-processor does provide a better performance than Nexus’s Snapdragon 805 processor.
Operating System
The Nexus 6 is going to run on the Android 5.0 Lollipop while the iPhone 6 runs on the iOS 8.
While we can’t provide a good measure of how the new Android OS will compete against other OS, the iOS 8 provides great support to third-party applications.
So now we see the big differences that set these two devices apart.
