Evolve- Alpha test now Open to PS4 Owners

by GH Staff

Evolve’s Alpha test is live on PS4. Ironically, its having a bit of a rough time adapting to Sony’s platform.

The gaming industry, like all markets of its kind, operates on the principle of “Survival of the Fittest”, and Evolve, eager to become the fittest of all, is allowing players access to the Alpha testing rather than the standard Beta test before release. While it’s nice to see a developer actively seek public criticism on an upcoming project during its earlier stages, the criticism they’ve been receiving isn’t your run-of-the-mill “textures not loading” or “infinite goldmine” bugs.

“PS4 players: we’re still working on issues affecting matchmaking. We recommend queuing solo, with no role preference, if possible. We’re actively investigating the ‘Cannot create multiplayer session’ and ‘World not defined’ issues on PS4. Thanks for your reports.”

Yokozuna not defined.

To be honest, as severe as these issues are, I can’t get mad. Most companies would keep issues like this behind closed doors and desperately try to hide any possible flaw with their product, but Turtle Rock Studios decided to let players help solve game-breaking problems like this before they had to shell out 70 bucks on the damn thing. There’s an alpha test and they’re solving the worst problems plaguing Evolve early on to make a better experience for the player. Failing faster’s one of the best paths to success, especially when you’re trying to Evolve.
