Design

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha provides the best design, with the slim body and unique design. It measures one of the thinnest phones only .26 inches thick. The premium feel is complimented by its metal frame, and the dotted pattern found on the soft back makes for grip that is comfortable. Compared to the Galaxy S5, the Galaxy Alpha is better to handle.

The Galaxy S5 on the hand, provides a plastic feel, however it is water resistant, unlike the Galaxy Alpha.

They both are equipped with fingerprint scanner, that is integrated into the home button. You are able to lock your PIN, and enable the locking feature. Both provide on their back a heart rate monitor for health aficinados.

Screen

The Galaxy S5 has the better display with a Coring Gorilla Glass 3 protected 5.1 inch display, that sports 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. While the Galaxy Alpha proves a smaller resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, for their 4.7 inch screen. Both devices equip their display with Super AMOLED technology, which provide clear images, and HD quality. The advantage however, belongs to the Galaxy Alpha even with a smaller display.

Camera

Leading the pack for the best camera, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha comes equipped with a rear 12MP camera, which has video capabilities of 4K recording, and LED flash. The Galaxy S5 however comes out on top with a 16MP rear shooter, which has higher pixels and performance.

Battery

The slim design of the Galaxy Alpha makes it possible to have a battery that is bigger than most. However, it only has 1860mAH, which is not the best, compared to its competitors. The Galaxy S5 has a massive 2800mAh battery that can provide a long battery life.

Processor and Memory

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha is powered by the four core Exynos 5430 processor, which provides speeds at 1.3GHz and 1.8GHz. The Galaxy S5 runs on a quad-core Snapdragon 801 SoC, and clocks at 2.5 GHz, although their performances draws little difference.

The 32GV built in storage found in the Galaxy Alpha doesn’t support expandable memory. While the Galaxy S5 comes in two variants of 16GB or 32GB, and you have the options of expandable memory up to 128GB through the microSD card expansion.

Good performances are found on both devices, but for a phone that will leave you impressed, than you should choose the Galaxy Alpha. For a superior phone that offers more memory, than the Galaxy S5 is the right choice.
