Time To Upgrade Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Vs Samsung Galaxy Note 4

The highly anticipated phablet churned out from Samsung, has impressed several fans, and has made a success in replacing its predecessor, the Galaxy Note 3. The Galaxy Note 3 released last year was a huge success, so it was a no-brainer that Samsung would continue with their popular product line, even releasing their Neo variant, and Neo Dual-SIM version on the separate networks. For now, we will look at the differences in Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Note 4.

Display and Design

Looking on the outside, they both look almost identical to each other. Each has the faux leather back panels, with the Galaxy Note 3 having the added faux stitches surrounding its edges, but not found on the Galaxy Note 4. Each also has a metal band that surrounds the body that provides an elegant touch.

For the measurements, each sports a Super AMOLED 5.7 inch screen, with the Galaxy Note 3 measuring just a few mm smaller than the Galaxy Note 4. The Galaxy Note 3 is also slightly slimmer than its successor, and weighs 8 mm less than the Galaxy Note 4. The Galaxy Note 4 comes equipped with an integrated fingerprint scanner technology in the home button, which makes for easier online payments. Each device is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3, but the Galaxy Note 4 provides a 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution with 551ppi pixel density. The Galaxy Note 3 provides a pixel density of 386ppi, and 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution.

Software and Hardware

There have been several upgrades made to the hardware, although the Galaxy Note 3 was considered one of the best on the market in terms of performance. The new model is available in two versions, where one uses a quad-core Krait 450 processor that clocks at 1.3GHz, combined with Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset. It also uses the Adreno 420 GPU. The second version comes with an octa-core processor that runs on Cortex A57 with speeds of 1.9GHz and Exynos 5433 Chipset. While the other processor is a Cortex A53 wit speeds of 1.3GHz, and Mali-T760 GPU, which provides a superb job for playing complex and the newest games. The Galaxy Note 4 also comes in two versions. With the first running on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 that clocks at 2.3GHz, combined with a Krait 400 processor, and Adreno 330 GPU. The second version comes with an octa-core processors; Cortex A15 that clocks at 1.9GHz and a Cortex A7 that clocks at 1.3GHz. This is all combined with an Exynos 5 Octa 5420 chipset and Mali-T628 MP6 GPU.

The Galaxy Note 4 provides 3GB of RAM; however the internal storage capacity is lacking. With the Galaxy Note 3 having three versions of 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB, and expansion of up to 64GB. The Galaxy Note 4, however, only offers internal memory capacity of 32GB that can be expanded up to 128GB.
The Note 4 runs on Android KitKat v4.4.4 while the Note 3 runs now on KitKat v4.4.2.

Batteries and Cameras

The Galaxy Note 3 camera is one of the best with 13MP in the rear, but the Galaxy Note 4 ups the pixels with a 16MP shooter, and added OIS. The front camera of the Note 3 has 2MP, but the Note 4 provides a 3.7MP front camera. However both have 1080p@30fps video recording capabilities.

The Galaxy Note 4 battery provides optimum power to runs its machine at 3220mAH, while the Note 3 has a 3200mAH battery. It last longer with their power saving mode, in which you can operate all day and more with only 10% of power left.
