Thanking Indie Developers Day Four: D-Pad Studio

by GH Staff

For the fourth entry to Gamer Headlines’s appreciation of indie game developers and one of their completed projects, we are recognizing D-Pad Studio and Savant Ascent; this shoot em’ up video game follows a magic caster known as Savant, a character inspired and based on the alias used by the music composer known as Aleksander Vinte. Besides capturing the musician’s persona, the developer has also incorporated the use of CDs; after acquiring these sound discs by destroying certain enemies, these objects will unlock Savant’s powerful new abilities and add new tracks to play for the background.

While listening to the upbeat soundtracks, personal computer users got to see the story with the malicious orb casting Savant out of his tower and transforming his surroundings into dangerous enemies since December 2013. As players continue to control this vigorous hero who climbs up the tower to defeat the final boss, the creator has been expanding the availability of this unique project on other gaming platforms, such as mobile devices and applications.

Besides the general description, here’s a thank you message from a random player!

“The speed and power of the attacks are phenomenon! At times, the incredible fast-pacing tracks really sync into the explosion and chaotic background! Besides the vibrant action, the dark and subtle color tones in the graphics look splendid and add that surreal and moody atmosphere. Hats off to the developer for executing such an amazing adrenaline game-play. While the hat maybe off, it’ll pop right back on if Owlboy doesn’t release soon.”
