Manchester, Tennessee is coming to Microsoft! In a move that’s sure to ignite a firestorm amongst gamers and music fans-alike, the multi-billion dollar conglomerate has reached a deal with Superfly, the company behind each year’s four day musical festival known as Bonnaroo to stream each performance exclusively on the Xbox One and 360 (sorry, Youtube fans).

Microsoft has announced that its videos will stream live in High-Definition, and will feature multiple performances simultaneously, giving their users a wide-ranging selection of artists guaranteed to satisfy their individual tastes; all of this being found on the Bonnaroo app, now available for download in each console’s app store.

Revealing the Lineup

Also discussed is the much anticipated revealing of this year’s Bonnaroo lineup, which, too will be presented live on the Xbox One and 360’s ‘Roo app. The event, known as the Announcement Megathon, will be hosted by Taran Killam from SNL, as well as comedian Hannibal Buress, with live featured performances by the Flaming Lips and other bands in an effort to persuade its multitude of users to tune in for the hippie extravaganza.

This move comes in the wake of a console war with rival company Sony and its Playstation 4, a console admittedly less focused on a total media experience, with gaming being its primary concern. One has to wonder, with Sony currently ahead in units sold, if this announcement will give Microsoft the push they’ve been waiting for in order to take the lead in a war that’s brought out the very best that both have to offer.

Bank or Bust

One thing’s for sure, this year’s Bonnaroo is going to be one of the most interesting ever, with Microsoft’s two systems streaming what’s sure to be a fantastic lineup, right in the middle of a console war that doesn’t seem interested in letting up anytime soon. What do you think? Will this announcement make a difference in the two rival companies’ struggle? Or will this precipitate into an enormous loss for Microsoft? Regardless, there’s great music to be heard, with Bonnaroo streaming live on the Xbox One and 360 from June 12th – 15th.
