A Comparison Between The Samsung Duos 2 And The HTC Desire 210

by GH Staff

Dual SIM phones have seen a recent rise in popularity, especially in regions such as India, where the telecom rates are considerably low. These prove to be great for people who keep travelling across different telecom circles and do not want to carry around different phones all the time. The Samsung Duos Series and the HTC Desire 210 are already widely accepted by consumers across many regions and making a choice between the two handsets can prove to be quite confusing.

Both the Samsung Galaxy Duos and the HTC Desire 210 feature a 4 inch WVGA resolution display and feature similar characteristics. The Samsung device weighs 118 grams, which is lighter than the HTC device which weighs in at 130 grams.

In terms of hardware, the Samsun Galaxy Duos features a dual core Cortex processor, clocking in at a speed of 1.2 GHz. The HTC Desire on the other hand, features a Mediatek processor at a speed of 1 GHz with only a single core. In terms of RAM, the Galaxy features 768 megabytes while the Desire features only 512 megabytes. The Galaxy features a Broadcom chip for graphics processing tasks while the HTC Desire features a Mali 400 chip for the same purpose.

Both the devices use the Android JellyBean OS provided by Google and feature a smooth experience to the user.

The Samsung device also features a proximity sensor and a compass over and above the accelerometer featured on the HTC Desire. Both the devices offer 4 GB of internal storage space and the option of adding an additional micro SD card for expansion. The HTC device supports expansion up to 32 GB, while the Samsung device allows for up to 64 GB of expansion.

When it comes to comparing the cameras, both devices feature a 5MP rear camera and a VGA front camera. However, the Galaxy features a flash alongside the camera, which is not present in the HTC Desire. Both devices are capable of recording high definition 720p videos.

The battery capacity of both the devices is similar. The HTC device having a battery capacity of 1300 mAH falls slightly short of the Galaxy Duos, which features a 1500 mAh battery. This, nevertheless, amounts only to a very small difference in standby time and talk time in which the Samsung device ranks only slightly higher.

In terms of retail price as well, there is little difference between the two devices. The Desire retails at $110 on Flipkart.com while the Galaxy S Duos is available at a price of $125 on Amazon. The Samsung Galaxy Duos is available in the standard white and black color options, while the HTC Desire 210 is available in white, black and red color finish options. Making a choice between these useful dual SIM smartphones does seem to be very confusing, with both devices receiving similar reception from the market and providing for very similar features. However, with prices for spare parts provided by HTC being higher, many users seem to prefer the Samsung Galaxy Duos.
