Starting with the new race, the Au Ra are from the continent of Othard and they share several traits with reptilian like patches of scaled skin, a long tail and a pair of long, curved horns growing out of their head. In general the race has been described in the Gamer Escape article as “overall the males sport muscular builds while the females are elegant and mysterious.”. It was also revealed that the character Yugiri is also a member of this race and that she will be removing her mask in Patch 2.5.

The Machinist class is going to be the games second physical ranged DPS user after the Bard class, and will pile on the damage with both their large firearms and their unique ability to place mechanical turrets around the area. The other new class is called the Astrologian and thankfully its going to be a healer, but the Astrologian isn’t a normal healing class.

The Astrologian draws their power to cast potent healing and support spells from the constellation-based divining cards. They revolve around the star globe and the casters right hand, and the caster will also be able to change the combinations of cards used for different effects. Gamers looking forward to using the new classes will be happy to hear that neither of these classes need a base class so you’ll be able to use them from the moment their released.

Besides the news of a new race and two new races, Gamer Escapes article also revealed a new high level raid called Alexander and the Heavensward Collectors Edition. Alexander will be a new end game raid that will revolve around a long abandoned and massive fortress that was originally summoned by the goblins. In order to stop it players will have to destroy it from within kind of like the Coils of Bahamut. The new raid will come in two difficulties named Normal and Hard and the development team has revealed that players won’t have to beat the Final Coil first.

Final Fantasy 14 Heavensward will also be getting a very impressive looking collectors edition. It will come with an art book, a video disc whose contain hasn’t been revealed yet and some in-game items. The in-game items are a griffin mount as well as two Final Fantasy 4 inspired items, namely a “a Dark Knight headpiece inspired by Cecil’s baron helm, as well as a Wind-up Kain minion“. All these items will be placed inside a large box which will feature the art work of Yoshitaka Amano, and the box will also double as a display for a figurine of a flying dragon which will be very important to the story.

Yoshida has warned however that the Collectors Edition will be very expensive but there will also be a digital version too.

The last piece of information revealed in this article was that the Final Fantasy 14 Heavensward expansion will have a new main theme which has been composed by none other than Nobuo Uematsu.

Gamer Escape has revealed in their article about the Final Fantasy 14 Fan Fest that the upcoming Final Fantasy 14 Heavensward expansion will introduce new classes, a new race, a raid and more.
