After speculation from various sources, it has been announced that Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition will be available for Playstation 4’s Plus members. With the recent information leak, it was only a matter of time before Sony released information on this port. Now with the release of the original game, the Apocalypse Edition will include the Road of Devastation, which was DLC available on the Playstation 3.
Along with this information, Sony released the available free games for all of their platforms. The Playstation 3 will have the biggest month with three free games; this just goes to show that even though Sony released the Playstation 4 they have not given up on the previous generation. The first free game for Playstation 3’s Plus members is the rebooted Tomb Raider. While Tomb Raider was met with critical success, Square Enix was initially disappointed by the amount of units sold. However, the game was recently re-released for the next generation consoles and a sequel has been announced. The other two games that are free for Playstation 3’s Plus members are the indie games Thomas Was Alone and Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut. While the former is an independent puzzle platformer and the latter is a psychological adventure game, both are critically acclaimed indie games that will be welcomed additions to the Playstation Plus’s library.
The last two announcements are for Sony’s handheld consoles. On Sony’s underselling PS Vita, Plus players can look forward to Unit 13: the third person shooter from Zipper Interactive. Finally, Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite, the famous ‘hack and slash’ RPG, will be available for the PSP and PS Vita.
Just a reminder, these games will be released throughout the month of March and will only be free if you are a Playstation Plus member. On top of this, when these games are released they will replace the free games from the previous month. As long as you have downloaded the previously free game then you are allowed to keep them; therefore, if you have not downloaded February’s free game, I advise you to do so soon.
