Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX Release Date Announced

by GH Staff

A trailer (see below) for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX for E3 has been uploaded, alongside an announcement that the collection will hit shelves December 2 in North America and December 5 in Europe. The compilation is an extension of the 1.5 ReMIX, this time including Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix, all of which have been fully remastered in high definition. Cinematics from Kingdom Hearts Re:coded are also included as an additional bonus, which have also been remastered. Like 1.5 Remix, trophy support is included and the collection will be available exclusively on PS3.

The Final Mix versions of the games include additional cutscenes and gameplay as well as english audio over Japanese subtitling. Unfortunately, the arguably much more anticipated title; Kingdom Hearts III, will not be shown at this year’s E3, which is massively disappointing but also understandable as series director Tetsuya Nomura is currently busy working on Final Fantasy XV, another game we won’t be seeing at E3.

What we do know of Kingdom Hearts III is that players will be once again controlling Sora, the original protagonist in the series – also returning will be Donald Duck, Goofy, King Mickey, and Riku. The game takes place after the events of Dream Drop Distance, in which it is Sora’s mission to seek out the seven guardians of light in order to put an end to Master Xehanort’s plans involving the balancing between light and darkness, a key theme seen throughout the franchise.
