Rollers of the Realm, the upcoming pinball RPG from Phantom Compass and ATLUS, blends the physics-based gameplay of pinball with all your favorite role-playing game mechanics. Meaning, players will control and collect various characters as a pinball and maneuver around levels in this form to battle enemies, explore environments, and find hidden treasures. To really understand this concept, watch the latest trailer that reveals more about the gameplay.
On October 2, 2014, Playstation uploaded a short video that showcases the incorporated puzzles. From breaking into walls to discovering new items, players will have a whole party of characters that have unique abilities (in the form of pinballs, naturally). For example, the Rogue—who can steal gold from villagers or deal backstab damage on foes—is the lightest pinball in your arsenal and can be used to squeeze through tight spaces to unlock hidden areas. She also can summon her canine companion, that acts as a multiball to really clear out enemies quickly.
Unlike the Rogue, the larger, heavier, drunken Knight who is less accurate can smash through boxes or other barriers to create a clear path into new areas on the board. Additionally, his massive size makes it easy for him to bowl over foes, and since he’s a knight, his special ability protects the gutter areas, preventing any pinball from falling.
Therefore, players will constantly need to use different characters from their party. As a quick reminder, the upcoming project will arrive this coming holiday this year on the Playstation 4 and PS Vita. For more information about this innovative IP, please visit the official website.
