Since 2011, the photo message application Snapchat has been providing people around the globe the ability to record videos, take photos, add drawings and text…and send them to a controlled list of recipients.

According to this company, in the month of May, the users using this application sent 700 million photos per day. It is definitely one of the most used applications. It is popular among men and women of all ages.

At the moment, Snapchat is one of the most visited online sites around the globe. According to Alexa.com, which is an online company that measures the traffic of every website in existence, Snapchat is one of the top 10,000 most popular online sites on the World Wide Web.

Snapchat is going through a meaningful issue at the moment, as a lot of accounts on its messaging platform were hijacked to send spam, but the staff at Snapchat is refusing this rumor. The only thing that the representatives of this online company stated about this incident was that it was probably due to user credentials found on other online sites.

“We have seen evidence that hackers who have access to a trove of credentials leaked from other websites have started using them to gain access to Snapchat accounts,” representative of Snapchat told the BBC. “In many instances, our defenses have notified the user that their account has been compromised.

Snapshot recommends that all of its users have a unique complex password to access their accounts. It is not the first time that this online company has suffered breaches, as in the past there was a leak of 4.6 million phone numbers and usernames. Advertisements for weight-loss website were sent by using profile information.

It is not clear the amount of people that have been affected around the globe by this issue, as it affected an uncountable number of individuals. Snapchat users are taking over social media online sites, such as Twitter and Facebook, to express their concerns about this hacking issue that is going on with Snapshot.
