Google’s flagship devices such as the Nexus 4 are some of the best android devices on the market today. On the other hand, Sony also has come up with some extraordinary smartphones that rival these phones by Google. One such phone is the Sony Xperia C. To help you choose between Google Nexus 4 and Sony Xperia C, here is how the two compare.

Design

Nexus 4 is a slightly older device and has dimensions of 5.27 x 2.70 by 0.36 inches while the Xperia measures 5.57 x 2.92 by 0.35 inches. From these measurements, the two devices are almost similar in design except for their weights. Sony weighs 153 grams, just 14 grams lighter.

Display

Nexus 4 may have a smaller screen at 4.7 inches, but its display is better than the 5-inch Sony. At 318 ppi pixel density and a resolution of 768 x 1280 pixels, it beats Xperia’s 220 ppi with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels.

Camera

Both smartphones have 8 MP rear cameras that can also record 1080p videos. In terms of the front facing cameras, Sony has a VGA 0.3 MP camera whereas the Nexus 4 comes with a 2 MP one that also supports video calling.

Hardware and OS

Although these two are powerful phones, there is a significant difference in their chipsets. Xperia C features a Mediatek MT 6589 chip while Google chose to go with the all-powerful Snapdragon chipset in the Nexus. They also have quad core processors although that of the Nexus is clocked at 1500 MHz compared to 1200 MHz of the Xperia. However, the Xperia has only 1 GB RAM compared to Nexus’ 2 GB. Nexus 4 was Google’s flagship device for android 4.2, the same version as the Sony Xperia C, but it went on to receive updates to the latest version, 4.4.2.

Battery

There is just but a minor difference in the two batteries. Xperia C is shipped with a 2390 mAh battery whereas the Nexus comes with a 2100 mAh one.

Verdict

The Nexus 4 may be an older device compared to Sony Xperia C, but it is better than the Xperia making it the best pick.
